High Resolution Land Cover

These nationally standardized, raster-based map products bring our national land cover mapping framework to the local level, providing detail that isn t available through such data at coarser scales.

NOAA is currently working to phase in the next generation of high-resolution land cover, which is being produced through advanced deep learning artificial intelligence (AI) combined with expert-based analysis, review, and editing. These data represent a significant improvement from past products, including previously produced high resolution C-CAP mapping. Because of this we have separated our high-resolution holdings into a Version 1 (which represents previously produced data) and a Version 2 (which includes our newest map products).
